A case of collective housing born from the perspective of future standard specifications!

We would like to introduce a case study of a maisonette-type collective housing built in Chikusa Ward, Nagoya City, which has implemented passive air conditioning. This collective housing was realized in a form where five households are connected in a row, proposing a focus on the future with the diversification of lifestyles, reduction of environmental impact, advancing energy conservation, and comfort in terms of warmth and cold. The previous residence was a 40-year-old wooden house that suffered from severe cold and condensation. The homeowner believed that "if building a new house, not only the design but also comfort is important," and placed a high priority on the budget for thermal performance, which is something that cannot be changed later. During the first winter after moving into the passive air-conditioned house, when asked about the living comfort, the response was enthusiastic: "It's almost too comfortable."
